MONTREAL REAFFIRMS ITS SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE

On February 16, 2026, during a meeting of the City Council of Montreal, City Councillor and Chair of the Commission on Culture, Heritage and Sports, Josué Corvil, read the Declaration aimed at reaffirming solidarity with Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of the illegal Russian invasion.


Montreal’s City Council then unanimously adopted this declaration.

 

The Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Montreal, Eugene Czolij, led a Ukrainian delegation, including the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Quebec Provincial Council, Michael Shwec, that attended this meeting at Montreal City Hall.


Then, during a meeting between the Mayor of Montreal, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, and the Ukrainian delegation, the Honorary Consul of Ukraine thanked the Mayor and other City Councillors of the City of Montreal for adopting this declaration, emphasizing the importance of public support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
